Prairie View A&M University (PVAMU) and the College of Agriculture and Human Sciences (CAHS) invite applications for the position of Associate/Full Professor of Food Security & Human Nutrition and Executive Director of the Integrated Food Security Research Center. Reporting directly to the Associate Dean for Academic Programs with a dotted line to the Vice President of Research Administration, this position is responsible for providing leadership in the area of food security. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching courses and mentoring students in Human Nutrition and Foods (HUNF); engage in service activities with colleagues, the department, college, university, community and professional organizations; capitalize on current and emerging research to promote our understanding of new applied science knowledge to improve food security in the State of Texas, primarily for underserved and low resource communities, and publish results of this research in refereed journals, and acquire externally funded grants and contracts for relevant research projects.

QUALIFICATIONS: Interested applicants must have a Ph.D. in Food Science, Food Technology or closely related fields. Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in an academic setting including a research and teaching record that will justify tenure and appointment at the rank of associate or full professor. An established record of research experience in areas such as food safety, food product development or food processing is required. Effective leadership, managerial, and supervisory skills are essential. The ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others; excellent customer service, public speaking, and interpersonal skills; strong verbal and written communication skills; knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications; and knowledge of University processes and procedures are also essential for this position.
