The University of Tennessee College of Medicine seeks a diverse pool of nominees and applicants for the position of Endowed Professor and Chair of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology on the main campus of the Health Science Center in Memphis, TN. The successful candidate will be a visionary leader with an outstanding record of leadership and scholarship in an academic Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, a strong history of extramural research funding (preferred), and experience in the education of a diverse array of learners.
The Chair of Obstetrics and Gynecology will oversee all activities of the department and will work with the senior COM leadership to define the Departmental objectives in the four core areas of clinical care, education, research and community engagement.
The Department currently consists of 19 core faculty and many adjunct faculty with active residency and fellowship programs as well as a varied clinical faculty practice. The next Chair must be capable of providing energetic leadership and articulation of a vision for the significant growth and development of this clinical and academic department.
Applicants should hold an M.D. degree or equivalent, be board-certified in obstetrics and gynecology, and be eligible for licensure in Tennessee upon appointment. Additional subspecialty training is welcomed, but not required.
The successful candidate will possess leadership abilities, professionalism, interpersonal skills, management abilities along with imminent knowledge of current professional trends in obstetrics and gynecology and current trends in the professional and business practices of health care systems. A substantial research publication record is expected, and a history of external grant funding is preferred but not required.
